Hi, I want to write you to let you and your students know about West Point’s Summer Leaders Experience (SLE). At West Point we develop Leaders of Character, and we are looking for high-achieving young people who are in great standing with their school and community, and who want to challenge themselves. Please see the attached flyer to share with your students, educators, and parents!
What is SLE?
SLE is a one-week program for current Juniors (High School Class of 2025) to visit West Point in June.
Students in this program get to spend the week with our cadets, live in the barracks, and eat in the mess hall.
Learn about West Point’s world class academics by trying 5 of our 17 academic workshops.
Learn about military training and becoming a Leader of Character at West Point by completing two military days to include rappelling, Zodiac boats, combatives (like Jiu-Jitsu) training and more!
Challenge themselves physically by attempting the Candidate Fitness Assessment, conducting physical training, and sports.
Complete their admissions interview with a cadet.
Spend the week making friends with other students from all over the US who are applying to West Point.
All the students that I have spoken with have really enjoyed this program and they especially enjoy interacting with the cadets. Your students may sign up for this program now by using the QR code in the attached “2024 SLE FLYER” or directly at westpoint.edu Our priority application deadline for SLE is the following Friday on March 15th and we will accept applications until April 15th. SLE is competitive and not all who apply are offered to attend.

Seniors,
Our FAFSA night is quickly approaching on Feb 26th from 6-8pm. I have attached a few documents to help you and your parents prepare for the event. A few items to take note of:
1. Students and parents need to create their FSA-ID at least 3 days before completing the FAFSA. Your FSA-ID is used to pull tax information and as your electronic signature. If your parents have already created an FSA-ID for either themselves or another dependent, they will not need to create another one.
2. It is best if the student and parent/guardian are both present when completing the FAFSA. See the "checklist to complete the 2024-25 FAFSA" for a list of information needed.
3. Please review the attached documents and bring the required information for a quick and easy application process.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Juniors,
We will be participating in Utah Higher Ed Days (UHED) on March 7th at Union High School. The bus will leave at 11:50am and will be back by the end of the school day. This is a great opportunity to explore college options.
Wellness Wednesday

Self-Acceptance
Today's Resilience Theme is "Kindness is Contagious." We would like to thank Miss UBIC, Zoey Barney, for participating during lunch while promoting her platform "Stand up, Speak out!" Students were also able to "Stomp out Bullying."
We would also like to thank Samoana Matagi (the no-handed bandit) for his inspiring messages during our assembly.
AHS Juniors,
TriCounty Health offers a Students Working Against Tobacco Scholarship (SWAT). This is a great opportunity to secure some money for post-high education while also gaining leadership skills in advocating for tobacco free youth. In order to get the scholarship, you are chosen to be on the SWAT team as a leader and help TriCounty Health organize lunchtime activities at AHS.
The deadline is on April 19th and the scholarship is worth ATLEAST $1,000.
